For almost\u00a0one hundred years<\/strong>\u00a0we at the \u201cCascina Fontanette\u201d farmstead have been working with grapes and\u00a0producing genuine wines<\/strong>, with the simplicity and experience derived from work and love for the land.<\/p>\n

Today we have got\u00a08 hectares of land<\/strong>\u00a0that I, Franco, manage with the help of my parents, who have worked as winemakers for their entire life.<\/p>\n

We produce different types of wine which express all the richness of this incredible land, between the extreme edges of the\u00a0Langhe<\/strong>\u00a0and the first hills of\u00a0Monferrato<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In our winery you will find\u00a0authenticity<\/strong>,\u00a0transparency<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0passion<\/strong>, and you will be welcomed by a warm and familiar environment.\u00a0You can also discover the history of our products which can be\u00a0purchased on site<\/strong>\u00a0or by\u00a0home delivery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

History<\/h2>\n

The history of the winery dates back to\u00a01920<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our family is from Valdivilla, a\u00a0small hilly hamlet<\/strong>\u00a0just outside Santo Stefano Belbo, where they owned\u00a0wooded land and vineyards<\/strong>\u00a0and where they lived until 1944, when my grandfather traded the land and the house where he lived with the current house and the adjoining vineyards.<\/p>\n

They moved a little further on, just a few hills away, a few steps from the centre of the village, to what at the time was an\u00a0old distillery<\/strong>\u00a0with concrete tanks.<\/p>\n

The old buildings were demolished, and\u00a0the entire area was renovated<\/strong>\u00a0so as to leave room for the nascent winery.<\/p>\n

At the dawn of the\u00a0\u201960s<\/strong>, the\u00a0wine business<\/strong>\u00a0officially began.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the\u00a0success of the sales<\/strong>, just a few years after, my family began to send the first barrels to Turin, Milan and Aosta, facilitated by the proximity of the railway station.<\/p>\n

Santo Stefano Belbo is a town with a vast wine culture. Thanks to the\u00a0favorable microclimate<\/strong>\u00a0and its central position in the history of local trade, the land has always been\u00a0suited to wine production<\/strong>\u00a0since the time of the Benedictine monks.<\/p>\n

The winery is located right at the foot of\u00a0Moncucco<\/strong>, the famous \u201chill of the South Seas\u201d praised by Cesare Pavese in his poetic collection\u00a0Lavorare stanca<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Several generations have followed one another in the shadow of the\u00a0great fig tree<\/strong>, which from the top of the hill welcomes visitors and provides\u00a0shade<\/strong>\u00a0during work in the vineyard. Although the past is dear to us, it does not bind us to an\u00a0ancient winemaking<\/strong>. Tradition is the basis of innovation.<\/p>\n

Between innovation and tradition<\/h2>\n

Throughout the years, the production has always been faithful to the\u00a0authenticity of the past<\/strong>\u00a0but it also keeps a straight look at a\u00a0sustainable future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Over the past 20 years, we have changed our\u00a0operating style<\/strong>\u00a0considerably, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.<\/p>\n

We produce\u00a0clean energy<\/strong>\u00a0through 4 photovoltaic systems and since 2010 we have abandoned the use of herbicides and\u00a0limited the use of chemicals<\/strong>, treating our vineyards only with sulfur and greenery to ensure our customers a natural and\u00a0transparent product<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In fact, we believe that in order to make the most of a pure and genuine grape,\u00a0man\u2019s work must be reduced to a minimum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In particular, the Moncucco vineyard, which is difficult to work with due to its\u00a0steep slope<\/strong>\u00a0but rich in history and value, represents our best impetus towards clean production:\u00a0manual labour<\/strong>\u00a0and a vigorous<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
